Our Favorite Aesthetic Treatments to Try in Fall

Do you know what it means when pumpkin spice lattes are back on the menu, there’s a crisp in the air, and the leaves are changing colors? It means it’s the perfect time to schedule some fall-favorite skin and body treatments!

Although some aesthetic treatments, like Botox and fillers, can be safely performed year-round, other treatments, such as lasers, microneedling, and chemical peels, are best suited for cooler weather due to the conditions they treat and the constraints of post-care instructions. Let’s take a look at a few of the treatments you should book over the next few months.

Our 5 Favorite Fall Treatments at AESTHETICS 360°

1. BroadBand Light (BBL)

BBL treatment

Move over, PSL, it’s BBL season! BBL (broadband light) is the strongest form of IPL (intense pulsed light). A BBL treatment is a safe, non-ablative way to target damaged cells through the use of intense, pulsed light wavelengths that gently heat both the upper and lower layers of skin. By doing this, new cell growth is stimulated, and damaged cells are removed and replaced.

These freshly regenerated cells then restore your skin, giving you a rejuvenated, smooth, and vibrant appearance. However, it’s important to note that results typically take 1-3 weeks, and you will likely need follow-up treatments for continued improvement. (But don’t worry, your BBL photofacial specialist will be able to determine how many sessions you will need!)

Why fall is the best time: BBL is great for fall because it addresses a wide variety of skin conditions caused by summer sun exposure, including unwanted pigment, sun damage, dull skin, redness, and broken capillaries. You will also need to be diligent about avoiding prolonged sun exposure for up to two weeks after treatment (as your skin will be more sensitive to UV radiation), only further making fall the perfect season for a BBL treatment.

2. CoolSculpting

Person getting Coolsculpting on their stomach

Our favorite body sculpting treatment, CoolSculpting, is a nonsurgical and scientifically proven way to reduce pockets of fat. It’s done by using a handheld applicator device to crystallize (freeze) and then permanently kill up to 20-25% of fat cells in the treated area. The ideal candidate has stubborn fat that just won’t respond to any amount of diet or exercise. Patients typically come in looking to treat their:

  • Abdomen
  • Love handles
  • Upper arms
  • Double chin
  • Muffin top
  • Bra back fat

Why fall is the best time: Although you can benefit from CoolSculpting at any point of the year, we think the best time to receive treatment is in the fall. That’s because, although the CoolSculpting process has no downtime, there may be some slight redness or swelling that can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Because of this, side effects are easier to conceal in the colder months.

It’s also important to note that CoolSculpting results appear gradually, usually over 20-120 days AFTER treatment. That’s why fall is such a great time for it—you’ll be able to give yourself time to heal properly and let the treatment take effect, so those stubborn fat cells are gone in time for summer.

3. Microneedling

Microneedling treatment

Did you know that sun exposure can break down the collagen fibers in your skin, compromising its strength and firmness? That means, after a long summer spent outside, you may not like the look of your complexion. Thankfully, microneedling is designed to reverse that damage by promoting collagen and elastin production!

It accomplishes this by using “micro” needles to create tiny punctures in your skin. These tiny punctures cause the skin to react as though it were injured, resulting in stimulation of collagen and elastin. It’s safe for all skin types, and can be used not just on the face, but also on the neck, chest, and body!

Why fall is the best time: You’ll want to avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks after treatment, or else risk hyperpigmentation. Because of this (and its ability to remedy sun damage caused by the summer months), it’s a treatment that’s best suited for fall.

4. The SaltFacial

Saltfacial treatment

The SaltFacial is our single most popular skin treatment for any skin type or tone, at any time of year. That’s because it features three different technologies on one platform: highly refined, all-natural sea salt exfoliation, hand-held medical aesthetic ultrasound infusion of mandelic acid, and high-intensity LED phototherapy. All of this works together to reduce fine lines, acne, chronic redness, and enlarged pores, and improve the appearance of dull, rough, or uneven skin.

Why fall is the best time: What makes the SaltFacial perfect for fall is that, just like BBL, it’s incredibly effective at treating signs of sun damage. That means you can use the autumn season to give your skin a refresh after summer! It’s also deeply hydrating, which makes it great for combating the dry air. Unlike some of our other favorite fall treatments, there is no downtime after the SaltFacial, so it’s perfect to get glowing skin for special events and holidays!

5. Chemical Peels

Chemical peel treatment

Chemical peels are an incredibly effective way to improve your skin’s appearance by removing superficial layers to reveal the beautiful, fresh skin that lies below. This treatment can range in intensity, which is why we offer everything from light peels to deep peels. (Although first timers are recommended to start light and work their way up.)  Plus, they contain plenty of replenishing ingredients!

Since chemical peels are so customizable, they can treat skin conditions such as:

  • Acne scars/acne
  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Discoloration
  • Freckles
  • Melasma
  • Age spots
  • Uneven texture and tone

Why fall is the best time: After a chemical peel, avoiding sun exposure is crucial, which means this treatment is best suited for the fall months. That’s because your newly revealed skin will be sensitive, and UV radiation can prevent the skin from healing properly and cause hyperpigmentation or sunburns. Also, the cooler temperatures mean you’ll be less likely to sweat, as perspiration can result in irritation and an increased risk of breakouts.

As an added benefit, getting a chemical peel can help make your skin care products more effective, since there’ll be no dead skin cells in the way of letting your products reach the deeper layers beneath the skin. Because winter weather is colder and drier due to less moisture in the air, this can help combat dehydrated skin.
